Portage Energy Group is a Canadian project development company focused on converting municipal solid waste into high-value energy products. We develop, build, and operate waste processing facilities that produce Solid Recovery Fuel (SRF) — a clean, cost-competitive alternative to coal — while delivering verifiable environmental benefits. Our integrated model captures value across the full waste-to-energy chain: from feedstock sourcing and processing through to fuel production and carbon impact monetization. Each project is tailored to its local market, creating solutions that work commercially and environmentally.

The Scale of the Problem
The world generates over 2 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste each year. In many developing nations, waste management infrastructure has not kept pace — landfills designed for decades are filling in years. Open dumps emit methane, a greenhouse gas 80 times more potent than CO2 in the short term, while contaminating water sources and creating severe public health consequences.
Portage exists to turn this crisis into commercial opportunity: scalable, proven solutions that clean up communities, displace fossil fuels, and deliver real, measurable climate impact.
Built on Proven Technology
Our process is built on commercially deployed technologies operating at scale in over 100 facilities worldwide. Mechanical biological treatment (MBT) and advanced sorting systems convert raw municipal waste into clean, specification-grade fuel pellets — no unproven science, no technology risk.
We are currently in pre-FEED engineering with international EPC firms, progressing toward detailed design and construction.
